User interface design

Superfried were approached by FoneClay to design a new Android smart phone interface.

This was a very exciting project since user interface design was a completely new discipline for me. The new interfaces or 'fones' as they are called are available for download and sit within the FoneClay app. Users can simply switch between different interfaces at will.

Many of the other designers involved had developed ideas based on animation and characters. These were cool, but I felt they may lack long term appeal. Consequently I decided to take a different approach and develop an interface that was both practical and aesthetic. This involved developing an icon based system to maximise the use of screen space and minimise screen changes. In addition to this, a complete sanse serif typeface – Basik - was developed to ensure consistency across all devices.
