Bespoke lettering

Existing client, The Birds Nest, briefed Superfried to develop the identity for their free annual 5 day Deptford music festival, Nestival.

After developing bespoke lettering for the identity it was apparent that an off-the-shelf typeface would not work for the numerals to be placed alongside the distinct angled type. Consequently, for continuity, bespoke numerals were also developed.

Taking the angle from the incision through the 'ST' in the logotype as a starting point, stencil style numbers were constructed. Numerous iterations were created until the balance between impact and legibility was reached. With the numberforms complete the grunge effect treatments adopted for the marketing material were applied. Where number duplications occurred within the dates, additional versions were created to ensure each numeral was completely unique.
